Team Dana Point, lead by skipper Sonny Gibson and his crew Jeremy Quinton, Andy Witham, Dustin Durant and Brent Barnett; have received an invite to the prestigious J-24 Worlds Championship in Cannigione, Sardinia, Italy. Many of those who place in the Worlds Championships go on to compete in the America's Cup Challenges. They are very honored to be recognized as one of the top ranking sailing teams around the globe.
Team Dana Point launched their Worlds Campaign two years ago in 2006. With many high placing results, they qualified for the Worlds Championship in Puerto Vallarta in 2007. Unfortunately, after scheduling conflicts and lack of funding they were not able to attend. The team continued their success in 2007 finishing in the top in all regattas they competed in. This gave them a chance to receive one of the 8 US births awarded. Well, this year will not pass them by! They received their birth to the worlds, and are ecstatic to be going. With a little funding, and help from some local sail lofts, this team will be one to watch out for. Go Team Dana Point!!
